Paula - I love Ian!

When Harold Bishop arrives back in Ramsay Street next month he will have a new love in tow.
Paula Duncan, 58, who plays the vivacious Carolyn, has starred in hit Australian TV shows of the 70s Prisoner and Cop Shop, but has confessed she was nervous about joining Neighbours.
Luckily her co-stars helped her settle in.
Paul told TV Week: "I was a bit nervous. It's a very established show and has been going for 26 years, but I did know I had my beautiful Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) in there - he is one of my nearest and dearest people.
"And I really love Ian Smith (Harold). If Ian wants you, that's a good sign."
Harold is quite a shy and retiring man, but he has always gone for women with big personalities and Carolyn is no exception.
Paula revealed: "She has always been a highly ambitious, dramatic, over-the-top person and she's found a simple and graceful man in Harold - and that's what she has been searching for all her life."
But is she what Harold has been searching for?
We'll find out next month.

Stefan gets Uncovered!

In our next edition of Uncovered, we got down and personal with Stefen Dennis and asked all your questions.  Check out what Stefen had to say.
If you could choose one character to come back as, who would it be and why?

I know you want me to say someone different but it can only be Paul.
Who would you like to see back from the old cast and why?
Joe Mangel definitely, Henry Ramsay and Clive Gibbons. They were all great characters and worked well with Paul Robinson. Wife wise, Gail for sure, and of course Mrs Mangel.
Do you think Paul should have a new love interest or is he done with love for the time being?
I think he is well and truly done with relationships for the moment since his heart was broken by Rebecca. Paul is the sort of bloke who would say, ‘ok, I’m done with women’ and get on with the other things in his life. I think there should be a bit of time before the next romance and in the meantime, he’ll cause havoc.
What is the craziest thing a fan has ever done to you?

When I was in London, a little old lady came up and slapped me across the arm which took me by surprise. Another time, when Fiona (Corke) and I were doing the show together, some fans sent us an invitation to their ‘bad taste party’ and sent us some crazy stuff to bring, very funny. How do you remember to limp all the time? Easy, I wear a brace now. Before that, I had to remember which was a little distracting.
How does it feel playing one of the most unlikeable characters on the show?
It’s funny because within the street he is unlikeable but I think viewers like to tolerate Paul and want to know his next move will be. I like playing him because he is that classic character that people love to hate.
What do you do in your spare time?
With three small children, I don’t get a lot of time, they keep me on the go. I’d like to say motorbike riding and painting, but generally if I have any free time, it’s spent in the garden, and I’m by no means a gardener, it just has to be done.
I heard you like cars and motorbikes, what’s your favourite?
I have four cars I really like and I’ve had a few motorbikes but it’s whatever I’m riding at the time that's my favourite.
Who do you think will be the next big star to come out of Neighbours?
Margot Robbie definitely. When she first joined the show, I thought she has to head overseas and do something. And not just because she is a stunning looking woman, she has a hidden talent that I don’t think she is even aware of, I’m delighted that Hollywood has discovered it.
What advice do you give to newcomers on the show?
Not a lot! If someone is struggling with nerves, I’ll tell them to remember that everyone is just doing their job, we’re all on the same level, that no one is above or below them, and just do what you have to do.
Who do you admire outside of television and why?
My stepfather. I admire him greatly for his patience, knowledge and wonderful loving demeanour. He came into my life as an unknown quantity and really had to work to win the acceptance of my brothers and I, and we gave him such a hard time in the beginning, and to his credit, he stuck with it. I always say I was lucky enough to have two fathers.

Ian gets the last word!

Ian Smith has just returned to Neighbours and already he's been welcomed with open arms by his adoring fans.  He's headed off to London to make a special guest appearance on the British Soap Awards, as well as doing a host of television, radio and print interviews while there.  So we decided it was timely to give Ian the Last Word in our next edition.

Time you were recognised – Earlier in the week.
Time you were embarrassed – Only to say it involved a bodily function.
Holiday you went on – On the Queen Elizabeth.
Website you looked at – I’m a dinosaur, so I don’t look at websites.
Bit of good advice you received – who was it from? - It was cooking advice from my wife.
Crazy thing you did – Well more a very stupid thing, it involved an electrical tool and I’m lucky to have all my fingers.
Admired someone and why – I read an article about an amazing woman working with orphans in Namibia, incredibly brave and selfless.

Neighbours sisters Jade and Sonya Mitchell are very close to each other and look out for one another,
Gemma Pranita, who plays Jade, doesn't have a sister in real life, and she might be jealous of the special bond her character shares with her sister, if she and co-star Eve Morey hadn't become so close in real life.
Gemma told the official Neighbours website: "I don't have a sister which I think is why I've had this tornado love affair with Eve. She is like the sister I've never had."
Meanwhile, the soap star confessed that while she enjoyed Jade's strict fitness regime when she first arrived in Ramsay Street, she is now struggling to keep it up in real life.
She revealed: "Unfortunately, I haven't been able to maintain Jade's fitness routine. Initially I was really into it, I was doing pilates and running, but in the last couple of months the schedule has just taken over and I've done nothing, and I'm riddled with guilt!"
Sounds like it's time to run off that burden.

Jordy Lucas gives us her thoughts!

Jordy Lucas,19, who plays Summer Hoyland in Five's Neighbours, tells us about landing the role in the classic soap and what we can expect from Summer...

Is it true that you landed the role of Summer through a magazine competition? What did you have to do to become a winner?
"Not exactly. I did enter a competition a couple of years earlier for a different role, but I didn’t win it. I auditioned for the Summer role separately."

Summer has been at the centre of some big storylines since she arrived back in Ramsay Street last year. Which has been your favourite?
"I really enjoyed the Steph storyline last year which divided Ramsay Street. It was the first real meaty storyline I could get into, and working closely with Carla (Bonner) and Janet (Andrewartha) was great."

Summer is a pretty sparky character – she likes to fight for her rights! Are you similar at all?
"I certainly have an opinion about lots of different subjects, but I don’t go to the lengths that Summer does."

Has starring in Neighbours changed your life in any big way?
"Absolutely. I think I’ve grown up a lot and also grown as an actor. And of course the public recognition took some getting used to."

Do you have any favourite TV shows/actors?
"I really admire Natalie Portman and Glee is a big favourite."

Neighbours has featured some guest bands in the past. Which pop/rock group would you most like to see play at Charlie’s?
"Thirty Merc and The Script, that would be awesome."

Can you give us a sneak peek of what’s in store for Summer over the next few months?
"Well, lots of drama! Summer and Andrew have a lot to resolve after the fake pregnancy saga with Tash and she also has to cope with her gran (Lyn Scully) leaving and what happens to her after that."

Has there ever been any talk of bringing back the rest of the Hoyland family to Erinsborough? Would you like that?
"I haven’t heard any talk, but I think it would be fun, particularly Natalie Bassingthwaighte."

Have you ever visited the UK, where Neighbours still has a big following?
"Not yet, but it’s definitely on my list of places to travel to

Eve Morey and Gemma Pranita have a chat with us!

Eve Morey on...
Similarities to Sonya: I guess morally and ethically we're similar, and ultimately what we want is best for the people that we love. She probably goes about things in a way I don't understand and has been in a place of darkness that I don't understand.
Sonya and Jade: The last time Sonya and Jade saw each other was when Sonya left Callum with their grandmother. Sonya was in a very bad place and believes initially that Jade is back to get some revenge.
Sonya's secret: They told me and my jaw dropped...And then when you look back on how much Sonya had put up with Toadie with the whole Steph thing, you realise there had to be another agenda to go through what she did.
Working with Gemma: I actually feel like a kindred spirit; we just get each other. We have the same sense of humour, live around the corner from each other, and also, on a professional level, she offers so much and we have a similar work ethic.
Sonya's future: There is still a lot of darkness; she still has to go through a lot before she sees the light at the end of the tunnel. I'd like to see her reach her potential as a mother, because she ultimately needs to forgive herself for what has happened.

Jade Mitchell

Confident, spontaneous and a serial flirt, Jade lets nothing stand in her way of a good time - but while she has Erinsborough's bachelor boys falling at her feet, her arrival has been met with a frosty reception from estranged sis Sonya.
With knowledge of some long-hidden family secrets, Jade unwittingly unearths a potentially devastating cover-up when she finally meets Callum and learns the youngster's real name. Will she be able to keep the truh under wraps?
Gemma Pranita on...
Similarities to Jade: Firstly Jade is anti-relationships, and I've been in a relationship for five years, so we differ there. She is very opinionated, which I can be, but I don't think I'm brash with my ideas or assert my ideas onto people, which she does. And she is a fitness freak, which I am not!
Sonya and Jade: When Jade first arrives in Erinsborough, that relationship with Sonya is rocky to say the least, but in seeing how happy Sonya is, even though she was living a lie, Jade becomes fiercely supportive of Sonya. It's almost the Mitchell sisters against Ramsay Street.
Sonya's secret: She can't believe that Sonya has had to lie about this, and I think she believes that Sonya has grown and changed, and should now be the rightful mother of Callum. The truth should come out.
Working with Eve: She is like my sister in real life. I love her to bits, and I know this will be a friendship for life. I really got lucky with Eve.

Jade's future: I would like Jade to meet someone who really challenges her and breaks her down a bit, because she's a little bit of a martyr, and I think it should come in the form of a love interest.
