Eve Morey is over-joyed about securing a permanent gig on Neighbours and believes she is extremely lucky to have been blessed with such a great job.
"I love it, I love it! It is so much fun and I love the people I work with. I've been blessed with Ryan, Morgan and Gemma. I always say I have the best fake life. I have a boyfried, a sister and now a son, I adore them," she said.
Eve believes that Gemma Pranita (who plays her character's sister Jade) is in real life her kindred spirit. "It is awesome! When we are together, we are actually like two boys. We just joke and muck around, we have so much fun together."
Having moved into a permanent role on Neighbours, Eve says she was inititally gobsmacked when she learned that Sonya is the real mum of Toadie's adopted son Callum. However, when her and Ryan got down to the nuts and bolts, they realised how it could be possible. She did some research to find out how people react in these sorts of situations so she could find some truth in the storyline.
"When you look back and see how much Sonya had put up with, with the whole Steph thing, you realise there had to be another reason why she was able to go through what she did. It just stared to make sense and I could understand why she forgave Toadie for everything."
According to Eve, for Sonya it wasn't about getting Callum back, she just wanted to see if he was okay. What she didn't expect was to fall in love with Toadie, which she says comes from a completely genuine place. Before Sonya found Toadie and Callum she hadn't even considered herself a mother because it was too painful and one in which she had put behind her.
A question that's probably on most of the viewers lips is one Eve also had initially...how does Callum not remember his real mother?
"He was four or five so you would think he would remember. But the character of Callum has been through so much. It was very traumatic. Sonya was not the same person, she fell in with a bad crowd, she got into alcohol and drugs. Then she got pregnant, had the baby and spiralled even further out of control. She had to go away to clean herself up. That's when the grandmother took over and she completely wiped Sonya from the family."
"Also back then, I think the relationship with Callum would have been a love-hate one because she was so young when she had him, only 16. It would have been more like having a little brother than a son. I think Callum blocked it out, almost like a post-traumatic situation," Eve explains.
So, how will Toadie react when he finds out that Sonya is Callum's mother? Apparently, not very well.
"He is devastated. He feels 'well did you love me or did you just want your kid?'. They've been together nearly two years, they've never kept a secret going for that long," Eve said.
Eve says we can expect that Sonya will go through a lot of darkness before she sees the light at the end of the tunnel.
"You'll see her at her worst and then she'll rise above it all, and throughout this she and Jade will become closer."
So, does Eve see a baby on the horizon for Sonya and Toadie?
"I would love it. I think there is so much richness in Toadie and Sonya going on that journey together which lends itself to humour, sadness, more drama. Cross fingers they will go down that path."
